They don't know

Often when a friend, family member or someone we care about is going through a tough time, we find it difficult to understand what they are going through or how to help them.  Ask your GP, seek professional support or encourage them to complete the mental health check-up tool which will act as a guide.

Call 000 in an emergency or contact the Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL) on 1300 555 788 if you feel you or someone else is at risk of harm.

How to help

If you are still worried after reaching out to them, encourage them to either complete the mental health check-up tool to work out what help is right for them, talk to their GP, seek a support service or contact a help line.

GP and professional support:

GP's can provide support, give advice or refer them to a mental health specialist such as a psychologist or psychiatrist, visit how your GP can help for more information.
